Welcome to the website of a graphic designer that would love to utilize her technique in photo enhancement, layout design, and creativity for your company. Autobiography of Raquel Gardner, Graphic Designer:
It all began in 1999 when my curiosity for layout design and photography led me to become the editor of my high school yearbook. As the editor I managed a small staff of my peers, arranged bi-weekly staff meetings, and met many deadlines.
As the years went on my curiosity for graphic design soon became my passion. This passion soon drove me down the pathway of higher education.
I obtained my higher education at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USC Aiken) majoring in Fine Arts. Those fours years of college were some of the best years of my life. Throughout my college years faculty & staff insisted that I use my graphic design technique for the university as well as for my class assignments. I took advantage of that opportunity and as a result I obtained elaborate graphic design skills, leadership skills, and communication skills.
These skills were put to the test between the years of December 2002 - December 2004 when I worked at the university as their Orientation Team Leader. During those years USC Aiken allowed me to manage a team of 36 people through one week of training and two months of freshmen/new students orientation, design elaborate programs for the two-month event, and also design fashionable t-shirts for the staff to wear.
In the mist of my college years I also interned at the Aiken Standard Newspaper as their Advertisement Designer specializing in layout design and much more. My daily duties were to design ads for multiple clients, design fliers for local business, and a coupon booklet to be placed in the weekly paper to announce the great deals that the Aiken Standard had for it's future clients.
Upon graduating from the University of South Carolina Aiken in May 2005 with my bachelors’ degree in Fine Arts I continued to utilize my technique in graphic design. I worked for a local church called Faith Outreach Christian Life Center as their personal graphic designer. While in this position I coordinated/managed the layout design for their quarterly magazine, designed effective advertisement for their up coming events, created elegant covers for their book & tape series, and managed their website.
My goal as a graphic designer is to follow the vision of the corporation and make sure my graphic design technique relates well to my audience. I truly feel that relating to your audience is an important asset because without an audience your product will never sale.
